Knox Box
EMERGENCY ACCESS PROGRAM
The Bloomfield Fire Department is using the Knox-Box® Rapid Entry System. The system is a secure emergency access program developed for property owners and first responders. The system is used across North America to prevent costly entry damage while protecting property and lives. When a fire breaks out, Knox® products allow immediate entry or delay. Property owners key, access cards are placed in high-security Knox-box key boxes mounted near building entrances. each Knox-Box purchased by a property owner is keyed to a single master key controlled by the fire department.
The Town of Bloomfield currently requires those businesses with a fire alarm system to have a Knox-Box installed. At the present time we are not using the system for residential use, however this may change in the future.
